Eure neue Scheibe „Hr. Rohien" erscheint in wenigen Wochen. Darauf gibt's auch einen Dada Life Remix. Warum habt Ihr Euch entschieden, gerade Dada Life für den Remix zu engagieren?

Es gibt nur wenige Künstler von deren Produktionen wir wirklich ernsthaft überzeugt sind. Dazu gehört zum Beispiel Lützenkirchen, der einen Remix unserer Single „Bruce will es!" gemacht hat. Nach dieser VÖ wollten wir das irgendwie toppen. Zuerst dachten wir, dass das wohl sehr schwierig wird, aber unser Track „Hr. Rohien" hat Dada Life dann doch so überzeugt, dass sie den Remix gern produziert haben.

Dazu muss ich auch mal sagen, dass sich alle Remixer wirklich sehr viel Mühe für uns geben. Der Lütze hatte kurzerhand zwei Mixe geschraubt, von denen wir uns dann einen aussuchen konnten und Dada Life haben sage und schreibe über 3 Monate gebraucht, da die beiden solche Perfektionisten sind. Fazit: ES HAT SICH GELOHNT!!! ;-)

Ihr betreibt seit 2006 das Label MZrecordz. Welche Philosophie steckt dahinter?

In erster Linie wollen wir reich werden! Das klappt aber irgendwie nicht, da das Musikgeschäft sehr kaputt ist und es wohl das Label als solches nicht mehr lange geben wird. Also greift jetzt unser Plan B: Das Ziel ist junge, engagierte, neue Künstler mit „alten", auch engagierten und etablierten Stars zu kombinieren und somit die perfekte Mischung für unser INDIE-Label zu erreichen!

Ihr habt euch – wie sollte es anders sein – in einem Club kennen gelernt. Wann hat es dann musikalisch zwischen Euch gefunkt?

Der Kutschi hat damals irgendwie Termine gebraucht, da er als Bob der Baumeister nicht viel verdiente. Ich hab ihm die dann besorgt und wir haben größtenteils zusammen gespielt. Ab und zu haben wir Produktionen von uns eingebaut. Am Anfang hat mir von seinem Sch**ß nichts gefallen, aber immer Sommer 07 fand ich dann Electro-Sache ganz cool und wir haben uns zusammen hingesetzt. Daraus ist dann die „Bill geht's?" entstanden. Von dem Zeitpunkt an waren wir zu zweit!

Warum passt ihr musikalisch so gut zusammen? Was macht die Quintessenz eurer Zusammenarbeit aus?

Eigentlich haben wir unterschiedliche Geschmäcker und deswegen passen wir auch so gut zusammen! Kutschi ist mir manchmal ein bisschen zu weich und ich übertreib's ab und zu ein bisschen. Dann reicht aber ein kritischer Blick oder ein böses Wort und dann passt das wieder… J

Wie funktioniert bei Euch die Aufgabenverteilung?

Da ich ja das Interview führe, kann ich sagen: Ich bin der Boss und was ich sage wird gemacht… :-D

Wie definiert ihr Euren Sound?

Hauptsache ins Mett!

Wann und warum habt Ihr entschieden, Euch hauptberuflich durch's Musikbusiness zu kämpfen?

Bei mir war das eigentlich schon immer, da ich nichts anderes kann! Das ist eigentlich nicht lustig, denn wenn ich hier scheitere, muss ich wohl anschaffen. Wobei ich mir denke, dass das wohl auch nix bringt, außer ich bring noch Knete mit…

Ihr arbeitet derzeit an Eurem ersten Live Set. Wie laufen die Vorbereitungen und in welche Richtung geht es musikalisch?

Wir bleiben natürlich bei unseren Produktionen. Es ist zurzeit so, dass ich mir auch gern mal ein Mikro schnapp und die „In this night" auch mal live singe. Das klingt zwar kacke, aber die Leute und mich freut's! In die Richtung wird's wohl gehen…

Ihr benennt Eure Tracks gern mit zweideutigen Wortspielen wie etwa „Hr. Rohien", „Bruce will es!", „mit Harrison fort!" oder „Bill geht's?". Wie entstehen die Namen?

Da musst Du die Eltern von Bruce Willis, Harrison Ford oder Bill Gates mal fragen!

Was dürfen wir in naher Zukunft von Euch erwarten und was sind Eure langfristigen Ziele?

Demnächst kommt'ne e.p. von uns. Mit gewohnt treibenden Tracks und wahrscheinlich auch wieder einem prominenten Remixer! Das wird aber erst im Januar werden.

Und langfristig… Hmm… Weltherrschaft???

MKM & GBX is a breakbeat project based in two guys, Marcus and Glauber aka MkM and GBX; they are pioneers producers in Brazilian Breaks (techy, booty, tear out) scene, they reached top players with releases at big labels like Cut & Run, Unstable, Trans:verse, Guerrilla Tactics, Westway, Digital Records and got forthcomming works on labels like I-Breaks and the big MOFO recs. Their productions and their vibey breakbeat sets made them the hottest thing ever to come on Brazilian Breaks scene. The Swedish house/tech DJ Håkan Ludvigson has a different background than most debut producers. Having founded the labels Substream and Clubstream and played more than 50 clubs in Asia, it's about time for a first release.
The Trollflöjten vinyl is released February 20th, 2008 on Pearldiver Records. The track was produced together with Joachim Bröckers from Pearldiver and the release also features remixes by Håkan Lidbo, Duvar and SounDank, as well as a remix by Sydney Roy for the digital edition.

Die beiden Durchstarter Mr. Jay & T wurden schon von Größen wie Lützenkirchen geremixt und bekommen bei ihrem nächsten Clou Unterstützung von den Schwedenrockern Dada Life und zudem von Electrocker.

Das Hr. Rohien Original ist kratzig und bissig zugleich und wirkt durch den Stop and Go Groove unbändig. Ein Track, der sich mit seiner aufregend präsentierten und schrägen Synthie unweigerlich ins Ohr schraubt und dort auch nicht wieder raus geht.

Wenn es um verrückte Remixe geht sind Dada Life immer zur Stelle und legen auch bei „Hr. Rohien" mit ihrem ganz persönlichen Style noch einen drauf. Sie entwickeln den Track in eine trancigere Richtung, erhalten gleichzeitig das zerhackte Grundkonzept des Originals und schaffen damit eine Floorbombe.

Auf der B-Seite gibt's als Bonus den Track mit einem Titel, der jedes Wochenende tausendfach durch deutschland raunt: „Wissen wir auch noch nicht..." Was mit einem Gitarren-Intro beginnt, entpuppt sich als ein weiterer kratziger und treibender Floorshaker.

Die beiden Macher von Big Mamas House Records gehen in ihrem Remix von „Wissen wir auch noch nicht' das ganze deutlich sanfter an.
Electrocker pressen mit viel Feingefühl die lieblichen Melodien des Originals noch prägnanter heraus und verleihen dem Track so mehr Harmonie.

Fazit:

Mit der neunten MZrecordz-Scheibe „Hr. Rohien" liefern Mr. Jay & T einmal mehr modernen Minimal-Electro-Sound. Der dazugehörige Dada Life Remix setzt dem ganzen das Sahnehäubchen auf.
